Will We Need Resource Consent?

Is a Resource Consent Required?

Most of the time a Resource Consent is NOT required, when normal building practices and Local Authority guidelines are followed.

However, sometimes there may be a need to depart slightly from a Council guideline and this is where a special consent is needed. The most common reasons for needing a Resource Consent for a Residential Property are as follows:

1) Height in Relation to Boundary issue.
2) Maximum Height infringement.
3) Exceeding Building Coverage allowable.
4) Exceeding Max. allowable impermeable surfaces.
5) Removal of Protected Trees.
6) Exceeding Max. allowable excavation of earth.
7) Building too close to a Boundary.
8) Subdivision or Cross-lease.
9) To build more than one dwelling.

Through our consultative design process, we usually eliminate any unnecessary "infringements" to the local regulations, giving you a fast, lower cost response and allowing the project to progress immediately.
